The 2017 Subaru Outback Touring crossover will be constructed exclusively for the American market. It will be built in the factory Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc near Chicago. New USA adapted SUV comes equipped with an innovative grille, machined finished bigger wheels and low-profile roof rails with an attractive silver finish, together with lower dressing and chrome Outback emblem to set it separated from other models in the lineup.
With the available body colors, it comes with an additional attractive body color, more engine options and finely tuned suspension and transmission systems. The cabin will be more luxurious and comfortable than before. It also receives an innovative safety feature that will stop the wagon automatically while backing up. We are guessing that 2017 Outback will be released with four models, such as 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited and 3.6R Limited.
2017 Subaru Outback Touring Changes
This crossover is more adapted for USA market and will have some facelift changes. The front fascia comes equipped with a dark gray colored massive grille and machined finished wheels. It also comes equipped with the low-profile roof rails with a silver finish, together with lower shell and chrome Outback motif to set it separated on the outside. There is a couple of additional body-color, such as new Brilliant Brown(see picture), in addition to the already available body colors.
As for the wheels, the standard will be offered with a set of 18-inch diameter aluminum alloy wheels with dark gray pronunciations. These wheels are bounded by 225/60 R18 100H sized with all-season tires.
All trims come equipped with the MacPherson strut type suspension in the front and double-wishbone suspension at the back with front and back stabilizer bars. Regarding brakes, there is some improvement, it comes equipped with the four-wheel ventilated disc brakes on both ends. There will be the four-channel, four-sensor automatic braking system with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, with 12.4-inch rotors in the front and 11.8-inch rotors at the back.
Some of the standard external features available in all models, except the 3.6R Limited model include:
LED Fog lights.
Projector-beam halogen low-beam headlights.
Two-speed windshield wipers.
Body-colored door handles.
Windshield wiper de-icer.
Rear window wiper.
On the other hand, the 3.6R Limited model comes with all standard external features of the remaining models, plus body-colored foldable side mirrors with integrated turn signal as standard.
All trims of the new Subaru Outback Touring 2017 come with the external dimensions of 189.6″ (L) x 72.4″ (W) x 66.1″ (H), with the wheelbase length of 108.1 inches and the ground clearance of 8.7 inches. However, there is a slight difference in the curb weight of the models. While the models 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited come with the curb weight of 3,593 lbs (approx 1633 kg), 3596 lbs (approx 1635 kg) and 3598 lbs (approx 1636 kg) respectively, the curb weight of the 3.6R Limited model will be 3814 lbs (approx 1734 kg).

For the next year, the next generation Outback Touring comes equipped with a well-appointed cabin that will be more luxurious and a bit bigger than 2 years earlier. Inside, it will have the fresh Java Brown punctured leather-covered upholstery, door panels, and armrests with complementary ivory stitching. The cabin also acquires an exclusive wood grain inside finish with piano-black switchboard accents. And of course, this is already standard, the car will be offered with a heated steering wheel, we didn’t expect any less.
Inside, the passenger volume is 108.1 cubic feet and the cargo volume of 35.5 cubic feet, which can be increased to 73.3 cubic feet by lowering the rear seat.

This time, the 2017 Subaru Outback Touring comes equipped with a new safety feature, known as the Reverse Automatic Braking, for the first time in a Subaru model. While backing, it stops the vehicle automatically if it senses a possible collision. The system comes equipped with four ultrasonic sonar detectors that are positioned on the back bumper cover to stop the new vehicle while moving in reverse direction.
Another safety feature that comes equipped with is the High Beam Assist feature. This system functions in combination with EyeSight driver assist system to switch the headlights between the low and high settings automatically when an approaching vehicle is detected. The EyeSight system, together with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Blind Spot Detection are offered as standard internal features.

2017 Subaru Outback Touring is equipped with two engine options according to the models.
As a result, the 2.5i, 2.5i Premium and 2.5i Limited come equipped with a 16-valve DOHC aluminum alloy, four-cylinder BOXER 2.5 liters engine with the Dual Active Valve Control System. This powertrain offers these models power output of 175 ponies at 5,800 RPM and the required torque of 174 lbs per foot at 4,000 RPM. It will be mated to a six-velocity Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with physical mode and paddle shifters.
All these trims will be offered with the all-wheel-drive system as standard. When comes to mileage, these models offer the mileage of 33 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highways. The maximum towing capacity is 2700 pounds (approx 1227 kg)
On the other hand, the 3.6R Limited is equipped with a 24-valve DOHC aluminum alloy, six-cylinder BOXER engine with 3.6 liters, also have the Dual Active Valve Control System.
2017 Subaru Outback Touring powertrain has the output of 256 ponies at 6,000 RPM and the required torque of 247 lbs per foot at 4,400 RPM. It will also be mated to a six-velocity Lineartronic continuously variable transmission with physical mode and paddle shifters. The all-wheel-drive system is standard. When comes to mileage, units are: 27 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highways. Maximum towing capacity is a bit bigger, it is 3000 pounds (approx 1364 kg). All trims will have the same size of the fuel tank, with the maximum capacity of 18.5 gallons.
