2017 Ford Fusion Review


The Ford Fusion is a four-door sedan, which was introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model year vehicle as a substitute to the Ford Mondeo. Since introduction, the model has experienced several updates and it is going to be facelifted for the 2017 model year. The earlier updated model was unveiled at the 2016 International Motor Show, held in North America. Similar to its predecessors, the redesigned 2017 Ford Fusion assures to be an inspiring medium-sized sedan around by means of fuel-competent turbocharged powertrain, an all-wheel drive on hand, sophisticated technology and with a bounty of safety features. With the already available three models, such as S, SE, and Platinum, the 2017 model Fusion will be released with a new fourth model dubbed Sport. Among these models, the S model is considered the base model of the new Fusion.

2017 Ford Fusion Exterior

First, the base model comes equipped with some standard external features, such as automatic LED headlights, LED fog lights, a rear spoiler, color-keyed lower side sills, and a set of 16-inch steel wheels.
The newly introduced Sport model comes outfitted with an all-wheel drive configuration, a controlled suspension damping, a black net grille, LED headlamps, a rear spoiler, a set of 19-inch wheels and a unique external styling.
The same model comes with an innovative grille design and a set of 19-inch alloy wheels.
All other higher end models will come outfitted with the standard external features, like mechanical high-beam control, a sunroof, and 19-inch alloy wheels as standard.

Overall, the new Fusion will come with an attractive external design, practicality, and technology, which will set it separate from its competitors, such as 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and 2015 Toyota Camry, which conventionally supports traditional styling.
The Ford Fusion will be available in five stunning exterior colors that include:
 Oxford White Clearcoat.
 Magnetic Metallic.
 Ruby Red Metallic Tinted Clearcoat.
 Tectonic Metallic.
 Shadow Black.

The 2017 Fusion will be constructed with the body length of 191.8 inches, a width of 72.9 inches and with the height of 58.2 inches. The length of the wheelbase of the new Fusion will be 112.2 inches and its curb weight will be 3431 pounds (approx 1560 kg).

Ford Fusion 2017 Interior

When comes to interior changes, the 2017 Ford Fusion will be offered with noise-deadening features, such that the driver will have the option of undoing to consider more exhaust noise and more engine noise into the cabin for an athletic experience. The cabin comes with some luxury touches, such as leather-covered door panels, a leather-enclosed steering wheel, and a unique stitching. Interior colors available within the cabin of the new Fusion include Ebony and Medium Light Stone.
Some of the standard internal features available with the S model include a tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Bluetooth audio and Smartphone connectivity, a rearview camera, USB or iPod connectivity, folding 60:40-splt seats, complete power accessories, air-conditioning, cruise control and a height-modifiable driver seat.

2017 Ford Fusion Interior

Some of the new technologies available with the Sports model include an improved collision alert system, a pre-accident braking system, improved parking assist, front-mounted camera, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot monitoring system, and a pedestrian detection system.
All other higher end models will come outfitted with standard internal features, such as an 110-Volt power outlet, automatic parallel-parking system, adaptive cruise control, ventilated seats in the front, blind-spot monitor, and perforated and heated front seats.
The existing MyFord Touch system and the Sync entertainment system in the current model will be replaced by the third generation Sync 3 system.
The cabin comes with the passenger volume of 102.8 cubic feet and with the cargo volume of 16.0 cubic feet.

Engine

This time, different power units, including a hybrid power plant, will power the new Ford Fusion 2017.
First, both the S and SE models of the new vehicle come equipped with a four-cylinder power plant with the displacement of 2.5 liters beneath their hoods. This fine-tuned engine will be capable of generating the highest power of 175 hp and the twist of 175 pounds per foot. The entire power will be sent to the front wheels of these models through a six-velocity automatic transmission system.
On the other hand, the SE model of the new Fusion is further offered with two extra engines beneath its hood.

The first engine will be a 4-cylinder powertrain with the capacity of 1.5 liters. This engine produces the maximum power of 181 ponies and the maximum twist of 185 pounds per foot. The second powertrain will be a four-cylinder turbocharged unit with the displacement of 2.0 liters. This will deliver the model a healthy power of 240 ponies and the peak torque of 270 pounds per foot. Both power units will be mated to a six-velocity automatic transmission system as standard.

The newly introduced 2017 Ford Fusion Sport model comes equipped with a four-cylinder power unit with the displacement of 2.0 liters.
The new Fusion gets better acceleration, as well, through these engines. These power units assist the new vehicle in attaining the velocity of 60 mph from the stationary mode in 7.3 seconds and assist the vehicle in getting the top speed of 124 mph.
When comes to fuel economy, the new fusion offers the mileage of 22 mpg when it is driven within the city limits and 34 pg when it sprints on the highways.

Furthermore, these powertrains provide the new Fusion with the maximum towing capacity of 1000 pounds (approx 455 kg).
Finally, the 2017 Ford Fusion hybrid engine of the new Fusion comes with a four-cylinder traditional powertrain displacement of 2.0 liters. This engine offers its performance in combination with an 88kW-capacity electric motor, which will be powered by a lithium-ion battery set with the capacity of 7.6 kWh. With this combination, the new Fusion would get the total power output of 141 horsepower and the total torque of 129 lbs per foot. A continuously variable transmission system will be used to combine the hybrid engine.

Base cost and the date of release

Although Ford has not yet revealed the base cost and the date of release of the new Ford Fusion 2017, it is expected that the new vehicle will hit the Ford dealerships during the second half of 2016. Regarding base price, the new 2017 Fusion with the standard engines will be available at a starting price of $ 22,000 and the new Fusion with the hybrid engine will be sold at a starting price of $ 36,600.
