While the spies who captured images of the new 2018 CX 5 weren’t able to examine its interior, industry insiders believe it will be generally a crossover of the latest CX-4 and the current CX-5. The 7-inches color touchscreen display of the current model will probably be retained. The Mazda navigation system might probably be upgraded. However, the steering wheel-mounted audio and Bluetooth controls could be the same. In regards to safety features, better equipment could be in the offing in the new CX-5. The 2018 Mazda CX-5 could be powered by a similar engine like that of the current model. Nevertheless, there have been substantiated rumors it could have a new SkyActiv engine for its petrol and diesel(finally) trims. If Mazda sticks to the current engine, it will be a 2.0 L naturally aspirated variety providing 115hp and 150 lb-ft worth of torque. If a new engine is used, it could be a 2.5 L inline 4 with a horsepower rating of 184 and 185 lb-ft torque rating. When it comes to fuel efficiency, the new model should be at par with the current model. This is up to 26 mpg city and up to 35 mpg highway. Its acceleration should be also at par with the current CX-5 at 0-62 mph. While its top speed will be at 124 mph like the current model. However, if it gets fitted with a new engine all these figures could slightly improve.
