2018 Volkswagen Touareg test mule

The Touareg from the German automobile producer, Volkswagen, is an opulence sport utility vehicle, which was originally launched 14 years ago. This is a medium-sized crossover and it got its name from a nomadic culture, known as Tuareg, which represent people living in the interior of the Sahara Desert in North Africa. Volkswagen has plans to redesign the current Touareg model for the model year 2018. Most design details of the 2018 Volkswagen Touareg are not yet revealed, but it is expected that it may get some notable improvements according to the expectations of modern day buyers.


2018 VW Touareg Redesign

Seems like that the next generation VW Touareg 2018 will mostly maintain the current body line. Off course, there will be some minor redesign in its external styling, meaning it would come with the same size as that of its predecessor. When comes to external styling, the new Touareg would get most of its features from the T-Prime Concept GTE vehicle, which was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Show held in Beijing. Consequently, the front fascia should come with a bit sharper grille with horizontal brightwork, which will be bigger than the earlier model. New 2018 Volkswagen Touareg will be surrounded by a set of slender headlights, C-fashion LED daylight running lights, and an athletic bumper. Wheels are 18-inch aluminum alloy. Finnaly abou dimension, we only have data about wheelbase, which is 117.3 inches.


Around back, the vehicle comes equipped with slim tail lamps, lowered tailgate, and a lot of chrome on the back plate and bumper. The SUV gets the similar side panels as those of the earlier model. However, it is expected that the automaker should offer a more prominent beltline and beefier wheel curves.
The new 2018 VW Touareg will be constructed with the same dimensions like old one. Therefore, it comes with the body length of 189.0 inches and width of 75 inches.

New Volkswagen Touareg 2018 Interior

The new VW Touareg would borrow most of its features from the T-Prime Concept vehicle. As a result, its cabin comes equipped with a big touchscreen, positioned in the mid part of the dashboard. Although the instrument cluster, dashboard, and door panels are taken from the concept crossover. They will be redesigned according to the modern day needs with the high-tech expertise.
Although 2018 Touareg comes with a lower roof, passengers can get more headroom because of the lower-positioned seats. It will be 7 seats in three row. All rear seat passengers will get more shoulder room and legroom. Finally, it is expected to have with a bigger trunk area and more storage space.

Similar to the last model, the new 2018 Volkswagen Touareg have both diesel and petrol powertrains. The US version of the new vehicle will be offered with a V6 gasoline power unit with the displacement of 3.6 liters. Also, there is a hybrid engine with an electric motor combined with the same V6 engine. The 3.6-liter will have 280 ponies and torque of 258 lb-ft, whereas the hybrid engine will offer the vehicle the combined power of more than 300 ponies. It will run on 8-speed automatic transmission, but you can also choose 4-wheels drive(4Motion optionally)

On the other hand, V6 turbo diesel engine with the displacement of 3.0 TDI will power the European version. This will generate the maximum power and twist of 220 HP and 350 lb-ft respectively. It will go on 8-speed automatic transmission.
One more engine(rumored), it will most likely get a petrol four-cylinder 2.0-liter capacity power plant, as well. This will be offered chiefly in Europe and China.
Volkswagen has not yet revealed the performance figures of any of the engines of the new Touareg 2018.

Base cost and the date of release

Although the release date of new Volkswagen Touareg 2018 is not yet confirmed, buyers can expect the new vehicle sometime during the first quarter of 2018. The US version is expected to be available at a base cost of $49,705, whereas the German version will be available at €55,000.
