In addition to the aggressive look, the 2017 Dodge Durango will be equipped with a two powertrains to offer the new SUV and enhanced performance, fuel saving, and towing capability than the earlier model.
The base engine will be a V6 Pentastar power unit with the capacity of 3.6 liters to offer the new SUV the maximum power output of 295 HP at 6400 rpm and the maximum twist of 260 lbs per foot at 4000 rpm. Through this engine, the new SUV attains the velocity from 0-60 mph in 7.8 seconds. It offers the new SUV the maximum towing capability of 6200 pounds (approx 2818 kg).

According to rumors, the new model Durango may come equipped with a V8, Hemi powertrain with the capacity of 5.7 liters to offer the vehicle the essential power and twist of 360 HP and 390 lbs per foot respectively. The powertrain will be modernized with the cylinder deactivation feature that allows the vehicle consume less fuel to offer better fuel economy. Consequently, the new SUV offers the city mileage of 14 mpg and the highway mileage of 23 mpg. This power unit offers the new vehicle the maximum towing skill of 7,400 pounds (approx 3364 kg).


Both powertrains will be mated to an eight-velocity mechanical transmission system.
While the base model will be offered with the front-wheel drive system as standard, the all-wheel-drive system will be offered as an option. Similarly, the R/T model of the new SUV will be offered with both all-wheel-drive systems as the option and rear-wheel drive system as standard. All models come with the sufficient size fuel tank with the capacity of 24.6 gallons, which is positioned in the middle part of the vehicle.

The starting cost of the base model will be $30,495, whereas the R/T model with the rear-wheel drive system will be available at a preliminary price of $39,795, whereas its all-wheel drive version will be available at $42,295.
