Since its inception in 1973, the Buick Regal has been received very well in the North American market. The present model, which was introduced in 2011, is all set to receive major upgrades in many departments. Although we’re a bit disappointed that the all-new Regal didn’t debut at this year’s Paris Motor Show, we got enough details from the leaked images of the test prototype.

2018 Buick Regal Exterior
The new Buick Regal 2018 is believed to be available in two different body styles: the 5-door wagon (dubbed as the Buick Regal TourX) and the traditional 4-door sedan (the one we’re discussing here). The upscale sedan will be much longer(automobile lengths is 190.2 inches) than the one it’s going to replace, with extra interior space, especially near the rear seating area, thanks to the increased wheelbase. Built on GM’s all-new E2XX platform, the sedan will weigh around 300 pounds less than its predecessor.
The 2018 Buick Regal platform enables sending power to the front wheels, but also all-wheel drive(optionally). So, you’ll get better handling, increased fuel economy, better acceleration as compared to the existing model. Also, we think Buick will retain the Regal’s unibody design. We really liked the current model’s roof and door panels, front fenders, and hood made of galvanized steel and the bumper covers crafted from TPO (thermoplastic polyolefin). Front and tail lights are powered with LED headlamps that look magnificent on the road.
New Buick Regal 2018 Interior
Regarding the interior, it’s announced that the new model will offer more interior room which highly suits the popular sedans, but it will be completely redesigned from the last year model. We loved rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and the forward collision warning introduced in the 2014 Regal eAssist, and we expect to find these features in the 2018 version as well. Also, the updated Regal will feature an ultra-modern Intellilink infotainment system, now it enables connecting with smartphones and 4G Internet.
A driver cabin is equipped with the latest automotive features like advanced cabin safety and driver’s assistance, need to mention and good-looking chrome/aluminum details on new vents. Other additional features like improved GPS navigation, lane assistance, parking assistance and Wi-Fi are added to the new 2018 Buick Regal. The driver will be able to navigate through the contact list or navigation only by the voice which will drastically improve safety on the road. Apart from these improvements, the all-new interior will have more room for passengers, both at the front and the rear.
The current models are powered either by a 2.0-liter turbo gasoline or a 2.4-liter gasoline engine. There is also a 1.6-liter engine available only in China. However, the base models of the 2018 Buick Regal could be equipped with a 1.5-liter LFV Ecotec Motor while the premium variants are likely to have the same 2.0L Turbo I4 LTG engine. A weaker version of the engine will have an output of 163 horsepowers and 180 pound-feet of torque. The stronger version has built-in an 260 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque engine.
We won’t be surprised at all if these engines will be coupled with an all-new 8-speed automatic transmission system. The Regal GS, which is the top-end model, could be powered by a tuned V6 Turbocharged 2.0-liter I4 LTG engine that produces around 300 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque, supplying ample power to all the wheels.
The fuel consumption is unknown, but we estimated that will be close to 20-22 miles per gallon in town and 30-35 miles per gallon on the highway which falls to middle-sized sedans.
Price and Date of Release
The basic models will be sold in the United States for around $35,000 – a pretty reasonable price for a mid-size luxury sedan. There’s no information from General Motors about the exact release date, but we expect the car to be out in the market in the second or third quarter of 2017. Competitors: Over the years, Buick has carved a niche for itself in the market of up-scale sedans. in the US. However, the 2018 Regal will face tough competition from the likes of Chevrolet Malibu, Audi A4, Nissan Altima and Acura TLX. Buick has a strong customer base in the U.S., China, and Canada where the brand sold 19,504, 21,466 and 988 units of Regal, respectively, in 2015. So, we expect the upgraded version to be a runaway success.
