Is there a better option for the semi-luxury sedan with so affordable price than Optima model, hardly? The Optima hybrid is a hybrid variant of the original Optima, which was first introduced to the market in 2000 for the model year 2001. It was constructed with four doors and sold in the global markets in different names, such as with the name of Magentis in the Canadian and European markets in 2002. Later the name of the model was changed as Kia K5 and Lotze for the automotive market in South Korea. In the Malaysian and the American markets, it was sold with its original name Optima. The 2017 Kia Optima hybrid is one of the variants of the latest Optima model and it is expected to come with minor changes only.

Similar to its predecessor, the new Kia Optima Hybrid 2017 is expected to come with an arresting external design. It comes with a curved roof, similar to that of a coupe and with a spectacularly slanted fastback outside look with a distinctive front apron in the front. As for the dimensions, 2017 Optima now has 191.1 inches in length and 110 inches in wheelbase, which is a bit more than the previos model.

Another update in the new sedan is that the battery life of its UVO infotainment system has been improved and the functions of the telematics system of the vehicle are improved, as well. Power comes to the 2017 Kia Optima hybrid from a four-cylinder direct injection traditional engine with the capacity of 2.0 liters, replacing the 4-cylinder, 2.4-liter power unit available in the outgoing model. This power unit produces 154 HP @ 6,000 rpm. of power and it offers its performance in cooperation with a powerful electric motor of capacity 50 kW electric motor, producing 67 HP of power. The electric motor would get its required power from a lithium-ion polymer battery pack, with the capacity of 9.8-kWh. Therefore, the new Optima hybrid gets the combined power of 199 ponies. The new Optima hybrid will be offered with a traditional six-velocity automatic.
The sedan can be fully charged can for about three hours with 240V outlet charger, and a bit under 9 hours with 120V outlet charger.
