Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 Concept truck

A partnership between General Motors and U.S. Military’s Army is definitely a very good and useful thing and it will potentially bring great models in future. But, one of them is ready now, a new off-road truck model named Chevrolet Colorado ZH2 Concept. This truck will be as its name suggest, based on the well-known Chevy Colorado model. This will be a hydrogen-powered pickup. The model will be constructed in that way to test the limits and capabilities of the fuel-cell vehicle in wartime environments. Director of TARDEC, Paul Rogers said: A fuel cells will have a potential to expand the abilities of Army models, through exportable power, quiet operation and solid performance of torque. In the next review, you can find out something more about this model. Let’s start from its exterior design.

The exterior design of the recently developed model will be ultra attractive. Everything from the outside will be so aggressive and muscular. The central cab section of this model will be borrowed from well-known Colorado model, but everything else will be redesigned. At the front fascia, this model will have the amazing grille and the headlights. The headlights will be so thin. Their width is probably like two or three fingers. Quite amazing! The whole front fascia is so good, we are fascinated, it looks like the raging bull which is ready to win against matador. At the center of the grille, we can find large Chevy logo.

The hood of this model will be also different and it will have huge power bulge that will be very useful for housing the fuel cell powertrain. The headlights will be powered by the next generation of LED system, and we can also see some LED element on the front bumper. The mentioned bumper is also very massive and it is fitted with fog lights that are very useful in harsh weather condition in rough terrains. At the sides, this model will use amazingly huge tires. The word is about the 37-inch BFGoodrich Mud-Terrain T/A KM2 tires.

The cabin of this model is not drastically changed as the exterior design. The dashboard will remain exactly the same as in the regular Colorado. The same thing we can expect with the center console and door panels. However, there is going to be some slight changes of course. The front seats will be replaced by Recaro racing seats. The gauge cluster will now show KW output. Everything else inside is more or less the same as in the regular Colorado model. Some of the standard interior features will include modern air condition (dual zone), adaptive cruise control, adjustable seats, a lot of options for connectivity, a lot of safety features, as well as many others.

Engine and Performance

The most recent Chevy Colorado ZH2 Concept will run by a hydrogen fuel cell powertrain. However, the specific details are still a mystery. What we know is that the new Chevy ZH2 will have Exportable Power Take-Off unit or short EPTO unit. Some of the major advantages of this powertrain are a very silent in work, as well as low at thermal detection, which is crucial for the army. For example, it is very useful because of enemy can’t spot this vehicle easily with its FLIR systems. The torque is produced by the truck’s electric motor. As soon as they announce some new information, we will update this review.
