2017 Nissan Frontier Review

In the last few years, the Nissan USA was pretty busy with their fantastic Titan pickup truck. However, now, when they are free if can say in that way, they will develop the remarkable new 2017 Nissan Frontier. When can we expect this model on market? According to them, this model will most likely hit the dealerships at the beginning of next year. As we know, the Frontier model debuted back in 2004. We saw minor facelift five years ago, but however nothing too much notable or significant. What does that mean? That means that we can expect a lot of changes and new things. As we know, this model already receives facelift, but a model for Europe named NP300 Navara. The next Frontier will be based on this model, and it will have 4 trims: S, SV. PRO-4X, and SL.

2017 Nissan Frontier Exterior design

We have latest official photos of the exterior design, new Frontier looks definitely the best so far. As we already wrote, this new model will be based on Navara model. Of course, the Navara for Europe and Frontier for the U.S are not exactly the same. In order to attract U.S customers, engineers decide to rework the exterior design, but of course, just a little bit. At the first glance, it is quite obvious that you look at Frontier/Navara. The most recent 2017 Nissan Frontier will be offered in King Cab and the larger Double Cab configuration. The King Can feature rear-opening suicide doors, while the Double Cab will come with four usual doors. Now we can move on some details from the outside, and let’s start with the front fascia.

The front side will be slightly revised and here we can expect the addition of new horizontal inserts on the grille. Also, we can expect more chrome materials on the lower fascia. Of course, the grille will have large Nissan logo in the middle. The headlights and the grille will be fused and that looks very attractive. When we talk about the lights, first of all, we have to say that all the lights on the vehicle will use next generation of LED technology. The bumper will incorporate revised fog lights finished with dark chrome. The tow hooks of this model will be simply accessible. At the rear side, there are assisted tailgate from Nissan as well as the rear camera. At the sides, there will be large wheels made from stees and aluminum. Sizes: 15-inches 6-spoke steel wheels, 16-inches split spoke aluminum-alloy wheels, 16-inches6-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and 18-inches 6-split spoke aluminum-alloy wheels. The whole 2017 Frontier chassis will most likely use a lot of lightweight materials.

The interior design of this model will also get some new and updated “stuff”. In fact, the cabin of this pickup truck is more like sedan model. What can we expect from the new Nissan Frontier 2017 cabin? We can expect brutish dashboard, larger knobs, and 3-spoke steering wheel. Also, this model will be very comfortable and we can expect leather covered seats. The front seats will be bucket and it will be split by a center console. We can also expect more legroom and headroom for all passengers. The steering wheel will just like the seats offer leather upholstery as standard. Also, we can expect so many buttons on it.

The infotainment system will be updated with 5.0-inch display or optionally 5.8 inches touch-screen display in order to improve a better level of entertainment in the cabin. Some of the other standard interior features available in the latest Frontier will include 360-degree camera, dual zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, automatic braking, excellent audio system, a lot of options for connectivity and many others as well.

Engine and Performance

Beneath the hood, the approaching model will be most likely powered by a 2.5-liter four cylinder that Navara use. However, if that is true, we can expect upgrades on this engine in order to pump more horsepower, exactly 152-hp @ 5200 rpm and torque of 171 lb-ft @ 4400 rpm. Fuel consumption is 19/23 mpg city/hwy. As for gearbox, the smallest engine will have 5-speed automatic transmission. Besides four cylinders, Nissan will most likely offer V6 engines. We can expect 4.0-liter V-6 with some upgrades, 261-hp @ 5600 rpm, and torque of 281 lb-ft @ 4000 rpm. This unit will have two choices of the gearbox, one is 6-speed manual transmission(King cab) and another one is 6-speed automatic transmission. Also, we can definitely anticipate the reworking of the current 5.6-liter V-8 that we used to see in the second-generation of Titan XD. When it comes to the new 2017 Nissan Frontier transmission system, besides six-speed manual we can also expect seven-speed automatic that we used to see in Navara.
