2018 Kia Stinger GT Review

Before the 2018 Kia Stinger GT was officially released early on in January 2017, most Kia diehards expected a more aggressive and sporty design. Although the amazingly powerful Sedan did not quite meet the expectations of most sport car enthusiasts, the new Kia Stinger is no doubt the sportiest sedan released by the South Korean manufacturers up until now. The 2018 Stinger brags of an intricate neo-modern grille design, a technologically enhanced interior, and an improved engine performance to give out the sporty effect in a somehow ‘extra-large’ sedan.

Kia made no secret of their desire to modify the overall design of the 2018 Stinger edition to a more semi-corporate look blended with a sporty feel to suit the multiple driving options based on its engine system. From the front, the “tiger-nose,” mesh-coated grill welcomes the boomerang inspired, LED headlights spreading at the front edges of the A-pillar. The 2018 Kia Stinger GT rear is characterized by its twin hood venting system separated by a neat full-length diffuser. The D-pillar is similar to the outgoing model except for a minor tweak which sees the sedan curve slightly upwards on its deck lid to give the Stinger an aggressive sport-car appearance from behind to blend with its fierce corporate look at the front.

Upon its long-awaited reveal just before the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the manufacturers pulled a rabbit out the hat by revealing an unusually longer and larger compact-sedan. The 2018 Stinger boasts of an impressive corporate-style length of 190.2 inches, width is 73.6 inches, while the 114.4-inch wheelbase. It makes it relatively larger than other sedans in the market such as the Mercedes c-class or the Audi A4 model. The coupe sedan`s compactness is made possible by its uncharacteristically lower roofline of 55.1 inches. We expected this right from the start as it would be near impossible to give off a sporty feel with everything large.

Finally, about wheels, smaller engine(2.0l) will have 18-inches aluminum alloy wheels, with performance tires 225/45R-18. Stronger machine(3.3l) will get 19-inches aluminum alloy wheels with front-225/40R-19 and back-255/35R-19 ultra-high performance tires. Brake will be famous Brembo (disc brakes), front quad-piston calipers and rear dual-piston calipers.

Kia Stinger GT 2018 Interior

The Kia team went hard on its interior as can be seen from its lucid dashboard design. First off, an 8.0 inch LED touchscreen with TFT capabilities is strategically placed between the two front seats while most of the controls are placed towards the driver. As usual, Kia`s steering wheel bears the traditional KIA logo with some basic controls placed along the steering wheel branches. This makes driving and handling of the coupe-sedan relatively easy, unlike the outgoing model which saw most users complain of the difficulty in usage. The slightly exaggerated wheelbase is responsible for the massive rear space within the cabin which gives the passengers more than enough leg space.

Modern day automobile design trends were factored out in the new model as the gauges are metal accented while the needles are red to enhance visibility even in low-light mode. Kia kept true to their word and placed an effective audio system characterized by 15 Kardon speakers with two main subwoofers that produce an output of up to 720 watts. The new Kia Stinger GT 2018 model is more intelligent than its outgoing counterpart as it has technologically advanced driver aids in the form of semi-auto cruise control and impressive automated braking system to enhance driver and passenger safety.
