2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Review


Over the years, the Porsche Company continues to achieve a high dose of popularity all over the world. Why are they so good for so many years? It is quite simple, they always bring something new, and they always offer high levels of performance for every model they made. The same case we can expect with the most recent addition named 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. The approaching model will be the new flagship model of Porsche Company, and one interesting fact is that this will be the first plug-in hybrid model as the flagship.

This new car from Porsche will combine V8 engine from the Panamera Turbo and electric motor and that will certainly give great results. Also, only on the electricity, this model have excellent range. After the successful debut of the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid with an electric motor and V6 engine, the newly model is a logical move from the Company, and we can clearly say excellent move. 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid Exterior

Every model in the Porsche lineup has the beautiful exterior design. Exactly the same case we can expect with the anticipated 2018 Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. At the first glance, you can notice that the front side of this model is classic and recognizable Porshe front fascia. Here, the headlights will most likely use LED technology, and its shape will be quite similar as in the other Porsche models. The coming model will ride on aluminum wheels in 911 Turbo Design. The size of these wheels will be almost certainly 21 inches.

For improved braking, this model will provide Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake. We can also expect PDCC Sport (Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control Sport) that will include PTV Plus (Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus). Furthermore, the recent 2018 Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid will have 3-chamber air suspension which is coming in combination with PASM (Porsche Active Suspension Management). As an Executive version, we can expect four-door Gran Turismo with an extended wheelbase for around 150 mm.

The interior design is still very mysterious, but according to some assumptions, we can expect a lot of standard features and a lot of high-tech systems. Also, the seats will be most likely covered with the leather, and the steering wheel will be flat bottomed. This model will certainly provide a great infotainment system, but at this point, we don’t have more informations about that. Some of the standard features inside the cabin will include auxiliary air-conditioning (can cool or heat the people even during charging), cruise control, the most likely navigation system, a lot of connectivity options, excellent audio system, most likely Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and many others as well.

Engine and Performance

This is the segment where the newly model is the best. The next-gen Panamera Turbo S Hybrid will come with a 4.0-liter V8 engine in combination with the powerfull electric motor. The mentioned engine will be capable of generating up to 404 kW/550 horsepower while the electric motor will provide 100 kW/136 horsepower. Just like in the previously mentioned Panamera 4 E-Hybrid, the decoupler that we can also find in the 2018 Panamera will be actuated electromechanically by ECA (electric clutch actuator). This one will also get fast-shifting Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) transmission system with 8 gears. Of course, the all wheel drive type will be a standard feature.

The V8 engine combined with an electric motor will have a capability of producing up to 500 kW/680 horsepower. We can also expect max torque of 850 Nm, which further means that the newly model will accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds which is great. Top speed of 310 km/h or 193 mph. When it comes to fuel consumption, this vehicle will have a rate of 2.9 l/100 km / 81 mpg. Only with the electric power, this model will be able to provide 50 km range.

A few words about the electric motor:

The electric motor will have a liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery with the 14.1 kWh capacity. You can charge it fully for six hours with 10 A via a 230-V connection. However, if the newly model uses the available 7.2-kW onboard charger as well as 230-V connection, then the charging will be in just 2.4 hours (fully).

Price and Release date

In Europe, this model will hit the dealerships in July 2017, while in the rest of the markets we can expect it in the second half of 2017. When it comes to prices, we can expect starting price of around 185.000 euro / $197.800. An Executive model will start from 199.000 euro / $212.750.
